The 54th National Safety Week (4th–10th March 2025) was inaugurated at IIT Bombay on National Safety Day, 4th March, at the PC Saxena Auditorium, with the theme "Safety and Well-Being Crucial for Viksit Bharat".

The National Safety Day is observed annually in India to promote workplace safety, health, and environmental awareness. It marks the foundation day of the National Safety Council (NSC) of India, which was established in 1966 by the Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India. The event emphasized the importance of safety culture.

The programme began with a safety pledge followed by opening remarks from Associate Dean III (IPS) Prof. Prakash Nanthagopalan and a welcome address by Deputy Director (FIA) Prof. KVK Rao.

Expert talks on fire safety were delivered by Mr. V. M. Mainkar (Divisional Fire Officer, Mumbai Fire Services) and Dr. D. M. Patil (Assistant Divisional Fire Officer, Mumbai Fire Services) while Mr. Raj Kumar Paul (AVP & EHS Head, Tata Projects) spoke on construction safety.

Appreciation certificates were distributed to offices for their support to our section (Security-QRT, Estate Office, EMD, Design cell, PHO) and new construction contractors for their loss time free working.

Throughout the week (4-10th March), various activities such as safety walks, fire drills, training sessions and awareness drives will also be conducted. The event will conclude with the poster competition awards and closing ceremony on 10th March.
