IIT Bombay celebrated its 66th Foundation Day on March 10, 2025 by honouring the contributions of its faculty members as well as alumni who have left their mark in their chosen fields of profession. Mr. Ravi Pandit, Founder-Chairman and Non-Executive Chairman, KPIT Technologies Ltd., was the Chief Guest of the function.
IIT Bombay conferred the Prof. S.C. Sahasrabudhe Lifetime Achievement Award (2024-25) on Prof. Jayesh Bellare, Department of Chemical Engineering, in recognition of his outstanding contributions as a teacher, researcher and administrator, during the Foundation Day celebration.
The 'Prof. S.C. Bhattacharya Award for Excellence in Research in Pure Sciences (2024)' was conferred on Prof. Gopalan Rajaraman, Department of Chemistry for his outstanding contributions in the areas of Molecular Magnetism, Bioinorganic Chemistry, Spintronics and Catalysis. The 'Prof. H.H. Mathur Award for Excellence in Research in Applied Sciences (2024)’ was conferred on Prof. Maryam Shojaei Baghini, Department of Electrical Engineering, for her outstanding contributions in the area of Analog/ Mixed-Signal IC Design, Sensor-Systems, Energy harvesting circuits & systems, and Neuromorphic engineering.
The Institute recognised select alumni of IIT Bombay who have excelled in their field of work and made the Institute proud with the Distinguished Alumnus Awards (DAA). The awardees this year include:

The Young Alumni Achiever Awards (YAAA) are for alumni who have made outstanding achievements in their chosen field of work and are below 40 years of age. These awards were instituted in the year 2011. The awardees for this year’s Young Alumni Achiever Awards include:

In line with IIT Bombay’s commitment to sustainability and cleanliness, the Institute Cleanliness Awards were also presented during the event. The Cleanliness Award recognizes the dedicated efforts of various academic departments, Section 8 companies, hostels and non-academic sections/ buildings in creating and maintaining a clean, green and happy campus.
The function was held in the presence of the awardees, their family members, Institute functionaries and invited dignitaries.
