Post-Retirement Medical Scheme

The Post-Retirement Medical Scheme (PRMS) is a special program for employees who joined the institute on or after July 1, 2003. It offers medical benefits after retirement through contributory participation. Employees on the institute's rolls before June 30, 2003, can join by opting within six months of the scheme's adoption by the Board of Governors. Those who retired before this date can't join, except if they had previously chosen one of the institute's approved insurance schemes, in which case they can switch to PRMS with director approval.

The New Post-Retirement Medical Scheme (New PRMS) allows employees who joined the institute on or after March 11, 2015, to contribute for medical benefits after retirement. Those employed by the institute on March 10, 2015, can join by choosing within three months of the scheme's adoption by the Board of Governors. Those who retired before March 11, 2015, can't join. However, PRMS members who retired between March 11, 2014, and March 11, 2015, can switch to New PRMS by paying a one-time lumpsum amount.
