On November 26, 2024, IIT Bombay celebrated the 75th Constitution Day to honour the adoption of the Indian Constitution in 1949. The festivities showcased the Institute's unwavering commitment to the principles of justice, equality, liberty and fraternity, reflecting a vision for a better future for all Indians. The day began with floral tributes to the original photocopy of the Constitution at the Central Library, as well as to the statues of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, located at the Nandan Nilekani Main Building.
Commemorating the occasion, the IIT Bombay SC/ ST Welfare Association (MKS) organized an event at the PC Saxena Auditorium. The event commenced with a welcome address by Mr. Bhagwan Pagare, an Executive Member of MKS, followed by the ceremonial lighting of lamps and floral tributes to the photographs of Babasaheb Ambedkar and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The attendees then collectively read the Preamble to the Constitution of India, reflecting a shared commitment to the values enshrined in the document. In his address, Prof. Shireesh Kedare, the Director of IIT Bombay, emphasized the significance of our Constitution. The highlight was the Constitution Day address by the Chief Guest, Hon'ble Prof. Milind Gawai, B.S.L, L.L.B, L.L.M, and NET (LAW), where he shared valuable insights into the relevance of the Constitution in contemporary society .
