The Department of Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science at IIT Bombay is organizing a Workshop and an International Conference on "Electronic structure theory of emergent spin-orbit driven phenomenon (ESTESODP)" from 11 to 15 November 2024 at the IIT Bombay Campus.

The workshop will be held during the first two days of the conference. Emphasis will be given to the methodology and advancements in density functional theory-based electronic structure calculations.

The conference will focus (tentatively) on the following areas:

• Topological insulators
• Magnetism
• Spintronics
• Spin transport
• Energy materials
• 2D materials
