Institute is inviting applications for Research Scientist Positions available in various academic Departments, Centres, Schools, and Inter-disciplinary programme to support the research activities at IIT Bombay.

Initially, the tenure of a Research Scientist is for a period of one year and could be extended for two years, subject to assessment.

Consolidated Salary + Contingency Grant:

1. Consolidated base salary of Rs. 1,00,000/- per month on a pro-rata basis. HRA as per the Government of India norms (currently 30% of the consolidated salary) will be paid.

2. Non-lapsable contingency grant of Rs. 1,00,000/- per annum.

Eligibility & Evaluation:

1. Candidates who wish to be considered for such an appointment having at least five years of significant research and professional experience after their Ph. D.

2. Academic units will evaluate these applications. Mere fulfillment of eligibility criteria does not promise appointment to a Research Scientist position.

3. Please write to the respective Heads of Academic Units for specific information.

4. There is no last date for the applications.

5. IIT Bombay's own Ph.D. students are not eligible for this position.

Duties:

1. A Research Scientist will have a mentor whose expertise is closest to that of the Research Scientist.

2. Research Scientists are intended to support the Institute’s Ph.D. students through research guidance, technical expertise, and independent research mentorship

3. In addition to research, the Head of the Academic unit may assign reasonable academic/administrative tasks.
