The Deparment of Civil Engineering at IIT Bombay is organising a nation workshop on “Renewable Energy from Ocean: Potential along Indian Subcontinent” during September 30 - October 1, 2019. Details of the workshop are given below:
Title : “Renewable Energy from Ocean: Potential along Indian Subcontinent”
Speakers : Academicians, Scientists and industrial experts in the field of marine renewables
Abstract: India’s growing energy needs, adverse effect of fossil fuels and access to electricity for households in remote coastal villages & islands mandate alternative, abundant and un-explored marine renewable energies. This national level workshop is a kick-off event to start the various academic, research and knowledge dissemination activities as part of the project funded under Scheme for Promotion of Academic and Research Collaboration (SPARC) launched by MHRD (Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. This is expected to throw lights on the different aspects of marine renewable energies, including identifying potentials, selection criteria for suitable existing or innovate sustainable technologies adoptable to Indian conditions and to understand the environmental, ecological & socio-economic impacts.
Experts from University of Edinburgh and UK’s sustainable energy company will talk about innovative technologies of wave and tidal energy converters and success case studies.
Experts from various research & academic institutes and other Indian industry stakeholders, such as MoES, NIOT, NIO, IITs, NITs, ONGC are expected to deliver talks.
